    TV Problem

I got up out of my chair today and turned the TV off. As soon as I touched the TV, I got a pretty painful static shock. Immediately the TV started turning on and off in rapid succession. The TV is a two year old Insignia 32" LCD. Anyone have any ideas as to what might have happened and...

    7 pin plug wiring

Thanks for the help guys. I had a few diagrams printed out and with me but everything worked fine when I plugged it in. Well, everything worked as long as I had the plug shimmed just right so it would stay snug.

    Drivetrain Whine

I thought about that and had a new carrier bearing as well as new u-joints installed about a year ago with no change to the problem. I failed to mention in my original post that the truck has made the noise since the day I bought it. I've put almost 100k miles on it since then.

    Drivetrain Whine

I have a med-high pitch whine from 55-65 mph only when on the throttle. The whine immediately stops when I let off or am above or below those speeds. There are no other sounds at any other speeds or throttle positions. I'm thinking the rear ring gear needs to be re-shimmed. Anyone else...

    7 pin plug wiring

Can anyone tell me what each pin in my truckside plug does? My wiring has been moved around so many times to work properly with a bunch of trailers that were wired differently and now I'm not sure what the correct way is. I bought a new trailer and have a 1000 mile return trip with it and...

    Elite Gooseneck Trailers

Does anyone have any experiences with Elite gooseneck flatbed trailers? I have been comparing them to Big Tex trailers and they are basically built the same with the exception of the frame size and crossmember spacing. Elite: 14# 12" I-beam, crossmembers spaced on 16" centers Big Tex...

    Electrical Help

OK, I got everything figured out once and for all. I was pulling another power wire to the amplifier switch when the remote wire coming from the radio should have been used as the power wire. I was sitting out there about ready to set the truck on fire when the little light turned on over my...

    Freakin Weird!!

Well, I checked the fuses and they were fine. I pulled the dash apart and got my hand on the VSM. I pushed hard on the connectors to make sure they were all the way in. I then fired up the truck and opened the vanity mirror. Nothing shut off and the lights on the mirror came on. Time will...

    Freakin Weird!!

I have been having trouble with what I believe is my VSM. Well, driving home today, my wife opened the vanity mirror and the radio and power windows shut off. When she closed the mirror, everything came back on. I told her to do it again and the same thing happened except that when she closed...

    Electrical Help

I went through the fuse panel with a test light. I tried everything key off and key on. I thought it might be the VSM but my windows still work. I have yet to ground the switch to see if the LED is coming on and I have to pull the amp out from under the backseat to see if it is getting...

    Electrical Help

OK, I figured everything out but now I dont have power at the #32 fuse. It is the radio (start) fuse. The fuse is fine and I have tried a few different ones. I do have power at the #11 radio (main) fuse. I hate electricity! Anyone have any ideas?

    Electrical Help

There is a remote wire coming out of the radio, through a switch then on to the amp. Thats the easiest part. I am getting confused with providing power to the switch to illuminate the LED on the switch. I assume that the ground pole on the switch is to ground the switch itself in order for...

    Electrical Help

I built myself a new console to house my CB, ice melt spreader controller, some gauges and some switches. I have a subwoofer that has the remote wire on a switch so that I can control when the amp is on or off. I didnt pay the best of attention when I pulled the old switch bank apart and now...

This is sick in a cool way.

I've seen a few at the local truckstop. I have to say that I am still 50/50 on the design. It kind of looks like a PT Cruiser on steroids. But it does have a timeless style to it, like the 379 Peterbilts.

315/75R16 tires less than ideal for towing?

I hated towing with my 315's so much that I got rid of them. I didnt notice so much of a power difference but rather a LOT of flex in the D range sidewalls. My truck felt like it had squishy butt syndrome. 17,500 is a lot of weight. If I were towing that much, I would expect my truck to...

    vsm?????

I was told that it is on the firewall behind the radio. Thats for my 2002. Guys said that there is about an hour of labor to get the dash apart. I need to replace mine but just havent had time. I will just have to live with on again off again radio and windows. Daveben, the vsm is...

    Need Some Advice (long)

The plan we talked about for a 1 year lease was to start the rent at $700 for the first 6 months then go to $800 for the remainder. After the first year, he said we could take a look and negotiate. As far as insurance goes, I have had a commercial policy since day one. My garage is insured...

    Need Some Advice (long)

Well guys, for the past few months, I have been considering moving the business into a shop. Here is a little history on myself and the business. I worked as an estimator for an excavating company until I was laid off in June of 2008. Once that happened, I started a small welding business...

    HPOP line o-ring replacement

I cleaned everything up and the oil is not coming from either of the lines. I thought the forward line was leaking, but I cleaned it and it has remained clean after about 100 miles. The valley has once again started to fill up with oil. I have a horrible feeling that the leak is coming...

    HPOP line o-ring replacement

I found the leak! It is coming from the top line. Does that mean I need to order # 9752K116? As far as Loctite goes, what color/type do I need? I really dont have a lot of experience with Loctite.

    HPOP line o-ring replacement

I am fairly confident that my consistant oil leak is coming from my hpop lines. I assume that I need new o-rings. I need some info before I dive in. Where do I purchase the o-rings? Part # ? Are there any special tools required? Has anyone done a "how-to" on the o-ring replacement? If...

Extreme Truck Repair ( good music)

No kidding!!! Removal of the cab is not a do-in-the-driveway-on-the-weekend kind of thing. 25.5 hrs @ ~$85/hr = $2,100 Thats about the minumim cost just to get to the motor. I dont think I will ever be buying a 6.4 just for that reason.

    Rear diff or trans problem

I can guarantee with 98% certainty that your slip yoke needs lube. I did mine with regular run of the mill bearing grease almost 70k miles ago. I havent had a problem since. One thing, make sure you have your parking brake on and the tires chocked. Thats a lesson I will never forget.

    Getting real tired of this!!!

I found out that there is no GEM module in the 2002's. They switched to a vehicle security module, or VSM, which is located on the firewall behind the radio. That would explain why I have to hit it in that spot to get it to work. The VSM is basically the same as the GEM but much harder to...
