    Air filters

I've heard that some don't like K&N air filters. What is so bad about them and what is recommended? Thanks.

    MBRP exhaust

Question for the guys running MBRP exhaust.... I got a great deal on a turbo-back stainless 4" exhaust system. What MPG increases, if any, are you averaging? Noticeable power increase? Just an overall better sound? I currently am running stock w/cat and muffler deleated. BTW... $50 isn't too...

    No compression??????

15-40 Rotella. It could be an oiling issue, but blowing off at 180-300 cranking rpm's and not 600 rpm's at idle? The customer had to have the truck back, so I told him I'd do some research. Thanks for the input guys. It figures that this isn't a common ordeal, as these are the trucks I usually...

    No compression??????

The filter thing is weird as heck.... cranking, it will blow off, running it won't:dunno Pulled the filler cap.... not blowing air out. We though of a stuck piston ring, or a valve hanging open, or a head gasket seap... thing is, what are the odds on a hit and miss, that it doesn't start, and...

    No compression??????

Here goes.... I've got a '91 F SuperDuty with a 7.3. On cooler mornings (50-60 degrees), when I go to start it, sometimes it will hit, but not start. I can do a quick either shot, it'll hit, start for a half second, die. Now the messed up part.... if I go to restart it, it will crank over like a...

    engine oil pressure

The oil pressure gauges in Ford diesel trucks don't show actual oil pressure. The sending unit is a simple on/off switch with 6-7 psi being the breaking point. Anything 6 psi or less.... the gauge will read 0. Anything 7 psi or over will read 1/2 gauge. If your gauge is actually fluctuating...

    P/s Pump

Did you fill it to the full mark running or with the engine off? If you did it with the engine off, as soon as you start it, th fluid will disappear because of the air in the system.... and when you shut the engine back off, the air will push the fluid back into the reservoir making it look like...

MAX DUALLY Tire Size on 16s

I can understand that, but I don't know about rapid-overheating.... and it's not the same way as what 95 Stroker compairs. We have a 95 Dodge wrecker (I know, but it's a company truck:stir ), that had a size too big of tire on it.... we could run it with a Geo on it and the tires would touch...

why is there a diff between being cold and warm?

With my 99, as long as it's above 10-15*, I can start it and hammer down.... but I don't. They shop I work for has a 97 rollback, if it's below 40-45*, it'll take 2-3 miles before it has enough heat in it to open up.... and that's with it plugged in at 30*.

    no speedo

A bad rear wheel speed sensor will cause the speedo to quit. If you have a DVOM, jack the rear up and support on jack stands, unplug the RWS, attach the DVOM set on A.C., put in gear and give a little gas. Voltage should go up as wheel speed increases. If it won't read any voltage, sensor is...

I have installed a copper washer on the plug, with red lock-tite with no problems.

why is there a diff between being cold and warm?

Your problem lies in the turbo pedistal. It has a oil pressure operated valve that closes the warm up valve in the exhaust exit of the turbo. The spring that is overcome by oil pressure get weak, thus taking longer to open the valve back up (the oil has to warm up and thin out for the spring to...

    Cold Start=No Start

ICP... Injection Control Pressure Scan tool will label it ICP, sometimes fuel pressure (heard about that one, never seen it myself) I beleive it shows desired control and actual control pressures. It may also show ICP %, which is the regulator %. If the % requested is a high number (above...

    Cold Start=No Start

You said you replaced the relay, but did you test it to make sure it was getting power? Check for power on the big terminal (one will be hot all the time, the other when the relay energizes). If not switching on, test small terminals to check for key on power. You should have the single...
