    My whistling, whatever sound turned out to be the blown head gasket pressurizing the coolant system and making the wierd noise when the air came out of the degas cap........It started doing it about a year ago and got progressively worst. Sounds like a miniture hoot owl.....

    the service manager at my Ford place said he has more issues with the egr cooler than head gaskets... Mine headgasket is blown ..I am ordering the ARP's and he said he will install them and credit me the 200 bucks or so for the ford bolts....I'll be glad to get them on... Then i am 86ing the...

    If it's the egr cooler i will pick it up and do the delete.... If it's the head gaskets i guell i'll let them fix it.... DO YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE CAB ON AN 03 TO INSTALL NEW HEADGASKETS? The Fordman says NO! WADDDUP! They say they'll put in the ARP's . :confused:

    Fordman says its the EGR cooler or the Headgaskets....Won't need to remove the cab to fix the head gaskets! Do you or do you not have to on the 03? I thought it was only on the 08 and later!

    Offa to the Fordman with the &%#* truck..... I asked if he would install the ARP head bolts and he never heard of them..... Living in BFE sucks. Probably a hillbilly shadetree mechanic working for ford at 10 bucks an hour...There's no place like home... there's no place like home...

    SO, i take the Beeatch to the Fordman today to check if the HG's are toast.... If so, i'll have them replace them and install the ARP head bolts.... I saw another thread about using an SCT program to inactivate the EGR system. Does the delete still need to be done with this or can the SCT tune...

    I think Banks engineering is unsurpassed. However, I don't think any two trucks are alike.... Just because something works well for one guy does not mean it will work well for the other guy....Banks is expensive! I think the biggest key is to monitor what is going on.....Trans temp, pyrometer...

    :drive What he says is double digit percentage.......10 percent is double digit but if you get ten MPG that means dump 50k on a new truck and you'll get 11MPG.....if my maff is right.... They shed 600 lbs and if that's why, ............i just lost 25 lbs so I guess i'll get better...

    OK, New intercooler installed, oil changed, distilled water flush with extended coolant, new fuel filters. Hauled the camper to Idaho with 62 chevy in tow... went up the hill and it Overheated but cooled.... Dropped off the truck and back.....up the hill..(we're talking about a 4000ft or so...

    midtennfordparts.com They have ford products cheaper than Nappie!:D Even after shipping.......I saved about 90 bucks over NAPPIE, roughly 150 over our local Ford dealer even after shipping.........Took a week to get the stuff though... It was a belt, idler pulley and tensioner...180$...

    I just replaced my idler pulley above the pump because it had just a little too much play for me............The new one came....It's just the same....now I have a spare.......Dang...:eek:

    All the aforementioned advice sounds good........the starter is probably fine as it never engaged under 24v..Even so, most can handle a short overvoltage.....You just gotta hope you didn't fry the brain............Mine's fried but not im my truck............:dizzy
