good afternooon. I have a bit of a mystery that came on all of the sudden. Started my truck afternoon to deice the windsheild everything started fine considering it was 15 degrees out / 3 degrees overnight. Block heater was plugged in and functioning. Nothing unusual about the way it started...

Question Fuel leaking from bell housing

Thanks for the tip and input everyone. After owning this truck since august 2013, I have come to realise There's a lot of little things to learn about the 7.3. Maybe for anyone else who may be new to them too, I might start a thread on common maintence job that should be in the manual but...

    EBPV question

Joe: I just wish I knew what I did that fixed it. I guess it was the tube/bracket/sensor cleaning. The AIS is this something I can pick up at my local Ford parts supplier? any part numbers? I know it will be more expensive, but I would rather keep my relation with my regular suppliers.

    EBPV question

As far as you know, is the ASI a bolt in, or does it require fabrication work?

Question Fuel leaking from bell housing

Sorry for taking a long time to reply, life has been hectic and dealing with another truck issue, that I think is now solved. I think I found the leaking culprit, by accident. While trying to figure out what was going on with the other problem (EBPV system) I notice the top of the fuel bowl was...

    EBPV question

Good news, I think its fixed or at least operating correctly. Problem is I'm not 100% sure what I did. I replace the fuel filter because the gasket was leaking(another thread) and while there cleand out the EBP sensor, bracket and tube. All 3 of which were pretty filled with soot. After cleaning...

    EBPV question

Finally had a chance to do the boost test. all looks normal. idle 0 psi, normal accel about 4 psi, cruising steady at 65 5 psi, pulling grade with heavy accel almost 18 psi and most inportantly no needle flutter other then vibration from the truck. So this weekend since I'm due for a fuel filter...

    EBPV question

Dave: The K&N wasn't my addition, It was the PO before he passed. Not so much into performance as reliability. Joe: haven't pulled the connector from the sensor yet, with wind chills at -15*, not a good day to work under the hood. When I do I'll let you all know how it goes. SWAG??

    EBPV question

The only mod has been a K&N air filter. Took the day off because of inclement weather and made a discovery. While letting the truck warm up to defrost the windows, the hissing noise came back while on high idle (1000 RPM). While it was doing it's eratic hissing, I popped the hood and looked at...

    EBPV question

A partial update: scanned the computer with my cheapo scanner as well as one used by ford tech's, both came back with NO codes. Haven't been able to get to pressure test the intake piping at 20 psi or get a boost reading yet. Found a good place to test boost though, A toll booth up 300 feet...

    EBPV question

Yes, red line is still hooked up. I'll have the computer scanner for codes this weekend, try to get a boost reading, and retest at 25 PSI. would a 0 - 30 psi acetylene gauge work for testing boost until I pick up a real one? What kind of pressures should I expect? Thanks for your time...

    EBPV question

Unplug what, the the valve at the pedestal or the ebp sensor on the front of the engine? It did hold a static pressure, I don't remember what we pressurized it to though, I think it was like 15 PSI or so. No, no E.G.T. or boost gauges....yet. That's a planned add on sometime in the future...

    EBPV question

update: It was a slow day at work, so I went over to a friend of mine place to check my intake piping. after pressurizing the intake piping from the inlet to the turbo compressor, we found and heard no leaks. Any thoughts? Definately a perk big Joe.

    EBPV question

If it was the intake piping, wouldn't it be constant and not stop? Also this afternoon on the way home from work, It was doing something I hadn't noticed before. After driving about 20 or so miles at highway speed I come in to some stop lights and slower traffic. While driving like this with a...

    EBPV question

I hadn't given the ICP a though, though I'm still convinced it's the EBPV as I can hear the air hiss / hair dryer sound when its lacking power and the instant it stops I have full power again. Also the engine is accelerating but slowly until what ever it is goes away. Thanks for your input, I...

    EBPV question

Evening all, Have a few question about the EBPV system. I know its function is "supposedly" help warm the engine faster by creating back pressure in the exhaust. It does this when the air temp is cold enough for it to do so. Now for the questions. First around what temp dose this system...

    question about batteries

Just my 2 cents worth here, I'm not an expert of any kind but it sounds like the batteries are on their way out. Had something similar happen to mine back in September. As far as batteries go, I have had very good expierence with autozone's batteries. Last set lasted a month shy of 7 years. Part...

    Welding in new cab corners

Good evening, Looks like this year I'm finally getting a chance to give my old F250SD some TLC. This winter will consist of a fuel bowl rebuild and next spring or summer will be replacing the car corners and lower door skin on the passenger side rear door. Passanger side corner is bad, door...

Question Fuel leaking from bell housing

I think a bowl rebuild is probably how I'll end up going. Already did the drain valve a few years ago. I guess it cant be much harder. Are there any precautions I should know about before attempting this? Also, is this something that can be done in an afternoon? I cant afford to have it off the...

Question Fuel leaking from bell housing

Good evening: I have a question, that seems to be a common problem on the 7.3. I have a fuel leak dripping from the bottom of the bell housing when the engine is off. When its running no drips. I understand that there are a few common place they like to leak such as the fuel bowl drain...
