PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

Yeah, I agree with that. I like stuff to look professionally done, not like I did it.:roflmao My only concern is getting a harness from the dealer. They're going to know I'm up to something and I doubt they're just going to fork over a harness without suspicion, know what I mean? Especially for...

AC Shore Power Plug For Block Heater

The plug should be tucked away near the front license plate area. If not, it's probably still tied up in the engine area. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your truck should already have the block heater coming from the factory. For me, it was a matter of bringing it to the dealership to get it...

AC Shore Power Plug For Block Heater

I finally finished the rgdillon mod. The only thing I had left to do was add the LED inside the cab so that I'd know when I was plugged in. Got 'er done today despite the bitter cold. I originally wasn't going to do the light since the Marinco provides good pullout protection, but I decided to...

How are you disposing of old oil?

Typically I put it in my neighbors trash can on trash day. Otherwise I drop it off at the service station down the street. The only time they got pissy with me is when I dropped off four oil changes worth of oil at one time. Guess they didn't like getting 16 gallons of oil at one time. Oh well...

PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

Any pics to go along with this? Sounds like you just need to buy a wire, why the whole harness? Not sure I understand this step. Maybe it'd help if I looked at the PCM. :dunno

PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

Ooooh, that sucks. I'll do this mod if the wire is there, but I'm not willing to start fooling with running wires into the PCM. That bad boy is $700 plus installation, which takes awhile to install and program it. BTW, the PCM is between the drivers side battery and the fender. The plastic...

PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

The X doesn't have a PTO option in the sense that you couldn't order it from the factory with a PTO. However, despite this fact I'm wondering if Ford used the same PCM hardware in the X as they did in the Super Duties. If so, then the X's have the wire.

PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

Ron just sent them to me, once they come in I'll send them to ya (PM me with your email address). Ron's been good enough to help me figure it out; if and when we do, I'll surely post up and let you know. The whole AIC deal is confusing; from what I understand, only the 2003 and 2004 models...

PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

Just PM'd you. Thanks :thumbs Hey Bryan, we're not using the AIC as you're referring to. We're trying to give the PTO wire from the PCM power so it'll think the "PTO" wants the idle up at 1200. Shortcut around paying for a real AIC. Dubbed the Skweeker mod.

PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

Scott, if you have any luck let me know, especially if it's a different wire. It's cold as anything lately up here in New England so I haven't been out to work on it for a few days. Ron (rgdillon) said he new a guy from NOVAPS that did it in his X, just couldn't remember who. It did work, though.

PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

Was this directed at my comment about cutting the sheathing? I was just thinking of cutting back the plastic flex tubing around the wires about an inch to get better access to the wires. Others have told me via PM that the wire is on Excursions, too, so it's just a matter of finding it. :dunno

PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

Dave, are you sure it's blue and white?? All the instructsion say Blue with Yellow stripe?? I'm in the process of installing the mod. I found the white with blue power wire pretty easily, but was planning on cutting back the plastic sheathing around the middle bundle of wires on the fire...

    Newbie questions

I love my 6.0. However, if I were forced to replace it (stolen, totalled, etc) I'd look at an 04 or 05 due to previously mentioned maintenance issues. I've had my turbo replaced under warranty plus three of the injectors, again all under warranty. I'm not saying don't touch an 03, just do your...

Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W40 or Royal Purple

Well... My X seems to start easier, run quieter, and get about 1 or 2 MPG better on synthetic oil. Also, if you put an oil bypass filter your truck, you can get about 25k between oil changes, assuming you get the oil analyzed every 5k or so. Downside is the cost of the synthetic.

AC Shore Power Plug For Block Heater

I tried looking under the truck and following the heater cord back to the motor, but the cord got lost under there somewhere. If it's by the oil filter, you must be talking about a 7.3. I don't know where it connects on the 6.0.

    Exhaust

I've heard from many people that there isn't much room for a 4" downpipe on the 6.0; you can fit it in there but it tends to make quite a bit of noise rattling on everything if it isn't adjusted just right. Not sure about the backpressure issue. I installed the MBRP system, 3.5" downpipe, 4"...

    Cleaner Engine Compartment

What about Purple Power from Clean-rite? It was one of only a few degreasers at AutoZone. Ingredients are alkaline detergents and 2-butoxyethanol (111-76-2). After I was done rinsing it off I rinsed it off again. And then one more time for good measure.

KING RANCH OWNERS - I called King Ranch -

Would've been nice to see a King Ranch Excursion for 2006. Heck, it would've been nice to see an Excursion for 2006. If I ever become insanely wealthy I told my wife I'm converting the X to a King Ranch edition. As usual, she just sighed...

Bypass filter blow out, left stranded 3 times!

I just returned the bypass system to Amsoil, should have a refund in a few days. They indicated that they were returning my money for the assembly plus the lost oil from the blow-outs, but we'll see what they do. I've got the credit card company's number handy in case I've got to go that route...

AC Shore Power Plug For Block Heater

I got a reading when checking the ohms; did it this morning so I dont' remember what the reading was, but it wasn't 0. So apparently it's working. I plugged it in again and thought I heard something that sounded like voltage--if there is such a sound--so we'll see what she starts like in the...

AC Shore Power Plug For Block Heater

Just went out and checked it. Pulled the tape off the connection between the heater plug and the female connection on the back of the Marinco. It's got power. I've got no way of telling if the block heater is actually working, so I'll check in the morning to see if things are warm. If not, I'll...
