    DPF/EGR question

I've owned my 08 for almost 3 years, drive mostly city and moderate highway trips, rarely loaded and when it is, its loaded heavy. Never had any issues until last week when the EGR valve was stuck open, replace under 5yr/100k warranty. The only other time it was at the dealer was a squeaky...

    Transmission Shutter

there was a write up before on this problem, have them check the carrier bearing on the driveshaft, the older superduties have been known to shudder while under loads and this was a common fix. usually it needs shimed.

    Truck died and won't start

any modifications or a stock truck?

    FYI Check your brakes!!!

just wondering, are these the same style as previous superduty trucks? Caliper mounted to mounting bracket with 2 bolts, the mounting bracket has the sliders on the back side of rotor and they always seized and are damn near impossible to break free?

    Another REGEN question

fuel quality as well as driving habits will affect how often the truck will regen. I'm around 650-700 miles in between a regen. I only fuel up at high volume stations, your less likely to get bad fuel.

    Slow to take off?

The delay is often referred to as turbo lag, its very normal for turbo engines to feel sometimes sluggish until enough exhaust flow is generated to then generate enough turbine speed to build boost quickly. Now other factors such as a cold engine, high humidity, regen, as well as others too can...

    6.4 blown headgasket?

well, you cant say that it could never happen, it just doesn't seem as likely as the 6.0s were.

    6.4 blown headgasket?

So far I havent heard of any 6.4's losing head gaskets, remember one of the weak points of the 6.0 was the lack of cylinder head bolts. There needed to be more than per cylinder to reduce lifting the head under high boost. The 6.4 has more bolts. The biggest problems I've heard of was on job1...

    Another REGEN question

you will know when regen is done because the truck sounds different. The engine has a different tone almost if the pilot injection is shut off. In the early days before the several reflashes, once you were in regen it wouldn't stop until it was done. Meaning if you shut the truck off, as soon...

Question F350 6.4 autotrans downshift problem

Ford has had the re-occurring problem with drivetrain shudder for some years with trans shudder, loaded, unloaded whatever. Most likely its the carrier bearing that need to be shimmed on the driveshaft.

Question Check engine light on again!!!

generally its tied to 3 major problems with the truck, most dealers hate to hear it but its to protect to consumer, which is us. do some research on it for your area and process and requirements and see where it gets you. These trucks are definately hit or miss, especially 08 and newer.

Question Check engine light on again!!!

i'd start talking to them about the lemon law, seems like there have been 3 major problems

    Never had a regen yet

There are 2 types of regen, active and passive. Passive is when you have enough of a load on the truck where the egt's are hot enough to keep the filter relatively clean. I mostly travel unloaded so I usually regen in the active phase. This is where you get the "cleaning exhaust filter"...

    Never had a regen yet

if the truck is running good, your lucky and screw the regen. regen sucks fuel and i wish mine never did it.

Question Boost Pressure flucuates while in Regen?

so much for those epa jack asses who thought regen would clean air and save on fuel.

Question Boost Pressure flucuates while in Regen?

for the 2 years Ive had my truck, i've never noticed a fluctuation in boost, just thats its less and I believe its recirculated, at least thats what it sound like. Ford claims there is only a 25 hp reduction, i think thats crap. I think its more than that.
