Help Needed Oil filter cap split open

A few? I don't understand this problem. Are you guys over tightening and torqueing the top of the filter cap top to the breaking point? I have 7 years and 22 oil filter changes on mine and the cap looks like new. Did the caps get made differently/cheaper after 03'?

    New guy

Welcome to SDD indian0347. Only 57,000 on an 03'? I don't know where to direct you. All second/extended warranties are pretty pricey from what I've heard. Check the nearest dealer??

Above your postng is the "Stuck" 6.0 bible. Follow the links then click on (rear of engine) diagram. It is in a very difficult spot! But the good news is that I watched a dealer tech crawl up into my engine compartment armed w/ socket, swivels and extensions and swap out mine in about 20 mins. I...

Help Needed Oil filter cap split open

Geez Man!! What a catastrophy. I haven't heard this one before. Did a little piece of your Turbo "grenade" and break open the oil filter cap? External or Internal seems to be the question. Everything look o.k inside the filter housing? Broken spring/bypass in the stand? I'm anxious to hear about...

    Cheap F.Pr. Mod

I hear you bismic. When my new spring gets me way over like yours was, I'll probably choose to buy a new stock spring and try out the BB mod(if necessary). But like I said, I want to check it out like you did. I'll get to see how my 7 yr. old pump performs w/ the new demand. Thanks for the heads up.

    Cheap F.Pr. Mod

GDS said just that when I called them today. They also say they have sold thousands of these springs without issue. Perhaps the leakage problems that are being refered to are from high pressure aftermarket pumps that get turned up to 100+psig in addition to the greater volume that those pumps...

    Cheap F.Pr. Mod

Good info.; Thank you. How much "way over" was it when you installed it? And how much over was it after you cut a few coils. You would think that GDS would have done the homework on this spring so that it wouldn't be detrimental to their customers. I do have a gauge, but I'll be calling GDS now...

    Auto hubs

Great that you're still under warranty! Usually the cooler goes because of excess heat; either from plugged up oil cooler, head gaskets starting to weep, or running a hot tune or program, or a combination of these. It's considered a good practice to change oil cooler when changing the egr...

I will Dave, no prob. Like I said, it all sounds good on paper; we'll see.

    Cheap F.Pr. Mod

We have a fuel pressure/bypass regulator mounted on the secondary fuel filter housing. The bypass allows fuel to return to tank that is over the pressure of the spring tension. The theory must be that this spring fatigues over time and reduces full potential of fuel pressure. I am replacing this...

    Cheap F.Pr. Mod

After ordering a higher strength fuel pressure regulator spring($20.)to help increase pressure, I realized this Mod would probably put a little more strain on the stock pump and system. Is this anything to worry about? Some guys are bb shimming the spring for that little extra bit :sly Just...

    6.0 problems

My 03' had all the usual problems that I'm hearing happen even from a few of the newer 05',6,7's. Including head gaskets.- But yes, I believe the 03' was more problematic; this was the first year out for the 6.0. Fortunately all the problems happened under warranty, and dealer was O.K. w/...

    thoughts on intake elbows

I'm looking@getting the less expensive ($130.)one from aaronmlarson(seller on ebay)from Utah. It looks just as aerodynamic? (or more so) than all the others. I hope I'm making the right choice.

    up pipe

These y-pipes that I mentioned about are from Innovative Diesel and have a core charge, so they are actually modified/refurbished; and claim to be crack resistant. I couldn't see anywhere their description of product, I can only assume they reweld the cracked ones(better than OEM) and polish up...

    up pipe

Good deal! What part did you get? And from where? I'm planning on doing delete soon, and may have the same issue. I've seen aftermarket long solid y-pipe (passenger side) and also just the solid up pipe for a cooler delete.

Were to buy ARP HEAD STUDS

Same #250-4202 new in the box that you'd get anywhere else. From Northern Auto Parts(an E-Bay power seller) same warranty and return policy as most any others. 99.9% positive feedback. They have an 800# if you need to talk to a real person.
