    first mod????

Do the Zoodad mod, the CCV mod, and then put 24" windshield wipers on. Very cheap and worth the time. Then start with gauges and thing.

    Extended cranking question

When was the last time you changed oil/filters? I'd start there. It's the easiest, and since oil is directly related to the injection system it's worth a try.

    Single or dual exhaust?

What he said. It's all the same exhaust, the duals just split right before the rear axle. 4" is all you need unless you plan on serious power (twins). Plus 5" is super loud. The cat thing depends on the dealer. Mine's been gone for a long time and the dealer never said anything. Others will try...

    Gauge readings

Boost should be between 25 and 35 usually. Trans temp should be ambient temperature +100 degrees. EGT will be around 300-350 at idle and should never exceed 1300 for any length of time. All these vary from truck to truck, but they should be close to these values.

where is the icp sensor located?

I don't think they moved it for ease of service. They moved it because the heat from the turbo/up pipes was screwing with the sensor. That's why the new updated sensors have a heat-shield attached to them.

where is the icp sensor located?

Below the turbo, back side of the engine, between the up-pipes, under a heat shield screwed into the top of the HPOP. PITA to get to. Why, is yours broke? EDIT: Here's a pic for ya. http://www.backglass.org/duncan/ps60_manual/ps60_011.jpg

    6.0 reliability

I'm on my third engine in mine. Previous owner overheated it real bad and messed up the first one at around 80k or so. The second one had some sort of manufacturing defect and only lasted about 5k or so before it started knocking. The third engine has been in since about 85k and I'm at 107k now...

livewire w/ egt or sctII and gauges?

I have both in the truck. Livewire is neat and a clean install. Gauges are alot easier to read than the digital readout. It's all a mater of personal preference. Best place I found for the livewire is on the left hand upper corner of the windshield. It doesn't block much and is easy to read. But...

    First diesel, what ______

Gauges gauges gauges. Then I would suggest the SCT tuner from a reputable company. There are several vendors around that make a good tune. As far as the intake, you won't see any improvement over stock until you start changing the turbos. The stock flows plenty enough. That's my current setup...

    EGR removing?

I've had mine unplugged for a long time. I left it unplugged when it was stock and now it's tuned with the EGR delete option and it's still unplugged. I've never thrown a code with it. And as far as the butterfly valve, they disabled that thing with the first flash on the 6.0. It's not even...

    stolen truck

I can't get it to work either now. Not sure what's up. We've had the same piece of glass on that tractor for well over 10 years now, the stuff is about $15 per square foot. It's just a plastic laminate that you stick on the window, just like window tint. All bullet proof glass is made out of it...

    stolen truck

You could laminate the glass to prevent somebody breaking it in a parking lot. We've got this stuff on the back glass of the tractor we mow with. It'll definately stop a rock flying from under the mower. It's supposed to stop a 9mm from 50 ft. I'm sure a thief will give up after smacking it...

    Head Gasket Replacement

I don't think you can replace one at a time. I believe the back ones will hit the firewall and cannot be removed with the heads on the engine. I've heard of people removing all the bolts that they can get out, then losten the back ones, pull them half way up, fasten them in the head with a...

    Head stud help

Those are the easiest ways. Or you could unbolt the cab and support the font with jack stands. I've heard it is possible with cab on and motor in place, but you'd have to remove your heater box and it'll be super tight. I think the heads and studs have to come out and go in together, (studs held...
