    It was in the 20's. I drove it all day. I checked the fluid level and it was on the line between cold and hot level. I added fluid but it didnt help. It used to shift into 3rd gear around 28-30mph but know I have to go to about 45 and then it shift from 3-4th real quick.

    You can do what you want but if your going to replace it, I would go to the ford garage and get the original equpiment and just replace it. If you start grinding and cutting on the fuel bowl (like you said you were going to do) you might run into problems. Replacing the heater is alot easier...

    I FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT THE PLATSTIC TUBE HOLD IN THE HEATER ELEMENT/ FUEL FILTER HOLDER in. If you want the heater out you have to take that tube off. A new heater element (I think) ran me about $50.00 Good luck:sweet
