    Might be a piston oil cooler tube.......I've heard of a few of them coming off. They squirt oil on the under side of the piston for cooling purposes........ Did any part of the pieces look like a small piece of metal tube?:dunno

    How long do you idle in cold weather??

    I use my remote start to let the truck idle. I have it setup so it will idle the truck for about 12 minutes and shut it down. By using the remote start I don't have to worry if I get tied up in a store or something. The remote start will automatically turn the truck off after 12 minutes...

    Could be that your EBV sensor is plugged. I've heard of that happening. It's located in the right exhaust manifold towards the front of the engine. I guess you can take it off and clean and see what happens. Maybe someone else can jump in that's had some experience with it. Here's a...

    Sounds like the Exhaust Backpressure Valve (EBV). Does it happen when the engine is still pretty cold. Shouldn't happen after it get's warmed up and running down the road. The high idle is part of the cold weather strategy. The engine will idle up to build more heat and prevent wetstacking.

    On the 99's and newer you don't have to worry about beating the firewall. A 4" DP will go in slick as a whistle. As for 3.5" vs. 4" either will prolly work just fine. 4" should help a little with EGT's but so will a 3.5" over stock. I wouldn't worry too much about the stories on less...
