Easy fix, AC cold in traffic again

65* is pretty bad. If it's not low on refrigerant and pressures are normal I'd check for a plugged orifice, a ducting issue, or severe dirt buildup on the evaporator.

Easy fix, AC cold in traffic again

30 seems a bit high, tho it should still cool OK, just cycle more often. 15-20 second intervals is not bad, as long as it kicks back in fairly quick, so maybe the 30psi was intentional for that system. If you increase the charge a bit it will probably cycle less often too. Might kick off for...

Easy fix, AC cold in traffic again

My AC has been getting to where sitting in traffic it would cycle off, then wouldn't come back on till I got moving. Pressures were normal when the compressor was running. I then found the compressor clutch wasn't engaging at low RPMs when the system had been on awhile. Checked the manual and...

    How to adjust the E-Brake??

There is a self adjuster as part of the e-brake pedal. I tried to explain/show how it is supposed to work on one of my pages here. If it malfunctions the e-brake won't work. I agree tho that the most likely cause of problems is the rear brake shoe self adjuster.

Rough running at idle, after 2 hour drive...

Hey Rick, good thinking on the IPR. Also it could be ran with the ICP unplugged too as a test instead of replacing it. Will set a code of course, and auto may shift in limp mode, but would be interesting to see what happens I suppose it could be the poppet clearance too, but seems that would...

    Opinions on engine rebuild

Oil cooler is a pretty easy (but messy) repair. Can you tell if it's at an o-ring? FYI if it's at one of the gaskets theres the small chance it's a bit more than seals. Wierd things I've seen or heard of; -cracked cooler header -cracked front cover -rusted block where the header gasket seals...

    Poor running when Cold

Interesting. Besides an oil change you might want to take a sample of old oil and new oil and throw them in the freezer overnight. Compare the thickness. Also if you have any polymerized veg in there it will create jelly like chunks or extra thick oil. Have you checked the level in the HPOP...

Rough running at idle, after 2 hour drive...

Strange that it's only when really heat soaked. I wonder if it could be a hot problem with the IDM?

    Opinions on engine rebuild

Just curious, have you made sure it's not just injector o-rings? Pull the fuel filter and see if the fuel is dark from oil. Bad o-rings can dump a lot of oil. Mine were not obviously bad, but after replacing them I went from 2 quarts every 3k miles to a quart every 8k.

Rough running at idle, after 2 hour drive...

You can run the tests below 160* but you need to trick the PCM. Disconnect the EOT sensor and jumper across the connector a resistor, try 2k Ohm (I'm not positive on 96 but think that will work). May run a little rough tho as the PCM will be setting the injection for a hot engine, but it should...

    Poor running when Cold

Sorry, I always forget to mention this. In order to do the test cold you need to disconnect the EOT sensor and jumper a resistor across the leads to make the PCM think the oil is hot, then you can run the CCT. IIRC a 5k ohm resistor works, but I'll check my notes to confirm. EDIT, looked at...

    Poor running when Cold

Was this hot or cold? I'd try the contribution test both ways and see what happens. If you end up with the valve covers off at some point check the injector armature clearance. Possible some wear there is causing poor injector operation till heat causes expansion. Just a wild guess tho...

    B20 appearance standards?

Good question. Easiest way is if you had a liquid that would dilute one but not the other. For instance you can check biodiesel for unreacted vegoil by disolving it in methanol, then the oil settles out. Don't know what would work for a #2 and biodiesel blend tho.

    BioDiesel upgrade hose kit ('94-'97)

Yeah, thats a bit pricey but at least someone is offering it as a kit. Easier for people who don't want to find a hose shop to make them up.

    Biggest blunder ever!

Ouch. Every time I do an engine I go through anxiety that I missed torqueing something, even tho I go to extremes to triple check everything. Biggest ulcer source for me is torque to yield bolts, cause you cant really go back and double check them...

    Biggest blunder ever!

Man Richard, the lengths you'll go to to keep us entertained :haha BTW if that was your "biggest blunder ever" you're doing pretty good :sweet Glad it was a simple mistake, bummer about losing the fuel tho.... I did something similar on a dirt bike once, got me way out in the middle of...

    filter bowl pitting

99-03 is totally different. 94-95 and 96-97 will interchange with each other, but have a different FPR and the restriction sensor is relocated. JB weld and Kreem tank liner both held up to biodiesel in a mason jar test for over a year in my garage. Main thing is get the bowl super clean...

    oil in the water

I wouldn't just go swapping parts at this point, too expensive and multiple possibilities. Since you have a significant coolant loss I'd start with pressurizing the cooling system for several hours, 15 psi or so. There are tools for this or you can improvise something. You can also buy a...

    oil in the water

OK, losing a gallon or two coolant a week you should be able to find by using a cooling system tester. Basically pressurizing the cooling system and looking for leaks and watching the coolant level. Presumably if there is an internal leak you wouldn't see it from the outside but the coolant...

    oil in the water

Oil cooler o-rings are a pretty common cause for oil in the coolant. Oil pressure can run close to 100psi at startup so might be forcing past hardened o-rings. Certainly the easiest possibility to fix. When you say you add as gallon or two a week, do you mean oil or coolant? If it's that much...

Help! Fuel Pressure way to high

The FPR filter would explain the high pressure on the high pressure side, but not the broken filter cap which is on the low pressure (lift) side. I'm still curious what the issue was there. Maybe there was a surge of fuel back through the filter faster than the return orifice could handle?

    valves worn out

My truck is running great at nearing 400,000 miles, average blowby, low oil consumption. I'd guess something happened to accelerate the wear in your engine. What jumps to mind is maybe an air filter problem allowing dust into the engine for an extended time. That would affect the valve faces and...

Not a common problem. Are the valve faces eroded or just the guides have too much wear?

HELP!!Oil Spewing Out Rear End of Left Head

High Pressure Oil rail end plugs Large plugs at each end of heads; incl. o-rings (International) 1827535C94 (new style, blue o-ring) I don't have the part number from Ford. If you get it there please post the PN and I'll pop it in the parts list.
