    Diesel Down - For Good!

Instrance guy told us it would cost about $14K to replace the cab which is more than the truck is worth. The rest seems okay although it pushed the front fenders and hood enough to jam the hood closed at first. Didn't hurt the bed either other than scratches from the limbs. More than I want to...

    Diesel Down - For Good!

It was a real bummer. But what can you do. Luckily nobody was in it when the tree hit. It took two of us to lift a 10 foot section of the tree off the truck that broke when it hit. Insurance has been pretty fair with us and I did get all my extras off that they don't pay for. Now I'm trying to...

    Diesel Down - For Good!

Well, I finally got some pictures pulled together. As I mentioned on another thread our elk hunt this year went really well (3 for 3) elk including the first for my 16 year old son. However, on opening day we had 50 mile per hour winds that were snapping trees all around us while we were hunting...

    Question Who's going hunting ?

The Good, The Bad and the ???? The Good (Hunters = 3, Elk = 0): Just back from elk hunting, best year ever! We went 3 for 3 (2 cows and a 4 x 5 bull) including my 16 year old's first elk ever. :) The Bad (Pine Trees = 2, 99' PSD = 0): My PSD was crushed by a pair of 80' pine trees (50...

20-30 Degree Trans Temp Drop w/6.0L Trans Cooler From early August: Just installed the 6.0L cooler in my early 99 7.3L last week. Bolted right in with just some minor plumbing work to adapt from the larger inlet/outlet ports to the 3/8" stock hose. I'll be putting a load on it next week and see...

    Question Who's going hunting ?

I'm going with my 16 year old son and a friend for elk (with wife and daughter in camp - they wouldn't miss it!) then a week after I'm taking the same group plus a couple of 19 year olds that are wanting to harvest their first muley. My daughter just got her hunter's safety last month but won't...

    Overhead Message center?

Not sure what truck you have, but there was an issue with the display circuits getting hot enough that the solder would melt and some of the surface mount resistors would fall off the PCB. My dads '99 had the problem. You should be able to find something in a search.

    Question oil leaks again ?

Mine was like the Valdez! I was about returning from Arizona to Colorado and my low oil light came on. When I stopped and checked it the trailer I was towing and the entire underside of the truck was covered with oil. I wasn't able to tell where it was coming from so I bought several gallons of...

    To cab wart or not.

I like the looks but I prefer the style of the Brand "D" cab lights better so that's what I put on mine a couple of years ago.

    Question oil leaks again ?

There is one on each side of the back of the engine (on top) and I think there are two in the front of the oil gallery as well. You have to feel for them as they are in a tight spot. You don't have to remove the covers. Just look for what looks like a round casting just inside the valley on each...

    Question oil leaks again ?

Did you check the oil rail gallery plugs on the back side of the engine near the top? When an o-ring failed on my driver's side, it drained down the back of the engine and through the weep hole. Took me a long time to track it down. I was able to wipe the area dry and feel the oil seeping out of...

    03 7.3L 4R100 Trans gets hot

Just installed the 6.0L cooler in my early 99 last week. Bolted right in with just some minor plumbing work to adapt from the larger inlet/outlet ports to the 3/8" stock hose. I'll be putting a load on it next week and see what the temps look like. ;tu

    trans tourqe question

They make two types. One is the Force Field which is a pre-filter that screws on to your oil filter and I believe just pulls out the magnetic particles. The in-line transmission filter idoes the same thing in your transmission line and it looks like they use them for power steering too. Mine was...

    trans tourqe question

:sorry Oops, my goof! It's just conquestauto.com (not "conquestautoparts.com"). I edited the previous post to fix it. Once you get to the site, type in 6.0L transmission cooler in the search field and it will take you to the right page. Here's some more info: ==================== SKU...

    trans tourqe question

:D Everything went very smooth. I pulled the grill, the bumper and the plastic covering the top over the coolers. Also took the top mounts off the A/C condenser so I could lift it up a bit to get it out of the way. The 6.0L cooler slipped in from underneath and bolted right in where the small...

    trans tourqe question

Not trying to interrupt the thread but if anyone is looking for a good price on a new 6.0L cooler, I just bought one last week from ConquestAuto.com for $269 ($281 delivered). Only took 2 1/2 days USPS. Other vendors were anywhere from about $320 - $400 without delivery. Check them out if you're...

    Tranny Issue

:D I'm crossing my fingers but I think I may have dodged the bullet ($$$) for now anyway. I put in some Seafoam cleaner, drove it about 6 miles, then flushed the system and replaced the trans filter. After test driving, everything seems to be working properly again. I'm still planning on trading...

    Tranny Issue

Thanks for the info. I did a quick on-line search and it appears there are both 25 and 31 row 6.0L coolers. The 31 row cooler (5C3Z7A095B) runs anywhere from $300 to $400 (w/line adapter kit). Are these aftermarket coolers sold under this PN different or are they the same as the OEM cooler you...

    Tranny Issue

I googled the cooler PN and it appears they replaced the stock trans cooler with the same one. The upgrade they told me about must have been the radiator update. Looks like I should put in the 6.0 cooler I've seen recommended by several on this site.
