Help Needed How to use the block heater

If I can't get it plugged in for some reason, and temps below 15F or so...I shut down all power hogs like the fan, the radio, the headlights...and cycle the ignition two or three times at least, waiting for the WTS to go off each time. The GPR is really still active, but I figure it's providing...

Question Fuel Heater Coolant Hose Replacement

Curious. The fuel bowl, behind and a tad left in your picture, has the heater inside. This part you have -- where do the fuel lines route to/from that connect into it?

Help Needed How to use the block heater

yes, sure! There's several. If you have a clamp on ammeter, that will be obvious--plug it in, measure the current flow. (or use Dave's idea, that's one ammeter!) If it is cold enough outside, you can feel the cord warm up a bit; and if it's not too cold, you can feel the coolant getting a bit...

    Winter is coming...

    Manual Locking Hub replacement?

I did this like 12+ years ago, so don't recall specifics....but I would guess so, or it wouldn't go on, right? Summit's site, for my model, gives a caution: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wrn-11690/overview/year/2002/make/ford/model/f-250-super-duty " Notes:When replacing automatic 3 hole...

    Manual Locking Hub replacement?

Happy TD to you too. Lock/Auto means you have the vacuum lines running into the hubs and when you selected 2WD/4WD-Hi/4WD-Lo from the dash, it locks the hub. Lock/FREE means you need to get out and lock them in, or unlock them. When my old Ford auto hub dies, I replaced with Warn units, and I...

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Weird odometer changeover...plus degreased the entire top, found a rubbed coolant line and replaced, washed it, got another scratch, looked over the rust forming in the rear wheel wells and under the driver side door, hope I don't have a leak at the oil/coolant heat exchanger or the lpop but...

    Question Power Windows Work Intermittently

...me too...I have clean ground straps, clean batteries, but the windows will some times not work for a spell after startup. Sometimes, not always, the radio is dead too. Then after a few seconds to few minutes, life returns...all function fine. Don't ever hear any clicky noises. I guess I'll...

    Body sag

Well, the body sag is gone! Re-arched the springs, slid another in there and it sits up a bit more. I have to work to reach into the bed, like I used to a long time ago. Good shop, no problems, left the keys in it for me when I came back through later in the day!

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Thanks guys! I appreciate it. For a "birthday" I got the rear springs re-arched (plus 1 new spring) yesterday. Sure rides with a new bounce.

    Body sag

No idea. An OEM full replacement of all hardware runs about $420+shipping from one site I checked (sdtrucksprings.com). LFD will be more presumably, and they also run $100/h. So I'd guess around double the estimate I got? And I don't have the faith with them anyhow...

    Body sag

Thanks! Much appreciated! That's who i went to this afternoon, 25 miles or so across the corn fields.... Set it up for next week since I'm heading that way into Indiana on a work related trip and can just drop it off (and get breakfast at Rich's across the road too). Good to know I got the right...

    Body sag

ok spring set is what it is. I recall re-arching and adding one spring to each side on the rear of an old 89 f150 I had. It was like a new rig after that. Just gotta find a reliable shop for that around here and compare adding a spring to shims or other options. Thanks guys. Edit. Found a...

    Body sag

But Dave...I'm not IN it when it's sagging! Well, I guess it's also sagging when I'm sitting in it too. Hey wait, what are you saying, I sprung the springs!! ? Seriously, for sure it's lower. Maybe its always been that way...I dunno.

    Body sag

Why would my truck sag on driver side rear? I haven't measured it but it's obvious to sitting on level ground, maybe an inch or so. Rear shocks look ok, and they both measure about 23" from bolt to bolt. No obvious cracked leaf springs. I'm not a body guy so don't know what else to check?

    Check your HPX Lines!

Nice to hear from you Dennis! freaky, was looking at this on my '02 when I changed the fuel filter this Saturday. No I am jinxed for sure; while mine is not a blue hose, I do recall the "replace annually" CYAdvice...when I installed it in maybe '06.

Yeah, especially if the transfer tank is not full -- humidity in the air space really seems to feed them. And filter...filter...don't forget the filter(s) Question: why is the small bottle of algaecide 2x the price of a big bottle of diesel Kleen?

I use the PS white bottle. Dump it in the big tank every time I add fuel. I use the dilution on the back of the bottle.
