    What exactly is it about the afterglow that has you worried? I'm not too sure about afterglow. All I know is that some vehicles have the glow plugs still on after starting for a couple of seconds for emission control.

    Forget it and get an aftermarket unit. Remember, Ford is the one that gave you the idiot light oil pressure gauge. As long as you have 5 psi, it reads normal. Do you want to tell me that you think 5 psi is fine for me if I run at 3000 rpm?

    I generally don't like to have an expensive TC in a used trans. If it breaks, the only way to fix the TC is to have it cut apart, cleaned, rewelded back and balanced. Cost me close to $400 for that service, IIRC.

    before I go that far, first thing to do is to check the gauge. Take an infrared thermometer to scan the pan. If they jive, we go from there. Maybe a 6.0 cooler or check debris between the grille and the radiator fan.
