why not go for the 08 cover anyway? it can be found for around $30 or $40 and it looks much better than the stock cover.

    Pulse HPOP Installed!!!

it's really not that bad to get to. it took more time for me to remove and replace the fuel bowl than it took Bob to install the Pulse on 2 trucks without the stock fuel system. All in all, total time on my truck was about 2.5 hours.

    Pulse HPOP Installed!!!

i was losing top end performance and would throw a cel when the motor was bogged down. like if i was in overdrive at 50mph and floored it, the pump wouldn't keep up and i had a cel by 70mph. Bob asked if i wanted a new ipr, i said there's no need, the stock one was running fine, so i kept the...

    Pulse HPOP Installed!!!

I have to thank Bob from dieselsite.com for coming up to the area on the Pulse Tour and Andy for the use of his shop. It was a pleasure to meet both of you and Alex and Jake. The Pulse smooths out the idle and increases the power through the power band. It's gonna be hard to get some mpg...

    Engine cuts out??

    synthetic oil

i think it drops about 1 mpg or so. or at least the performance seems to be a little lower late in the oil change cycle

    synthetic oil

iv'e been running rotella 5w40 synthetic for more than a year now. with conventional oil, i notice the mpg start to drop around 3,500 or 4k miles. with the synthetic it seems to start dropping around 8,500 or 9k miles. otherwise, milage has been about the same. now i only change the oil and...

rear disc brakes and aluminum diff cover installed!

brad, you won't be disappointed with how much better it stops after the conversion. and maintenance will be so much easier than the drums. bkb94, they didn't say what application the rotors came from, and i never asked. but i'm sure they would use a common rotor to keep costs down.

the troubles go on and on and on....

yes, the three bolts holding the thermostat neck to the wp are the same length. it was most likely still leaking because the flange for that neck is flimsy and does not stay flat when it is taken off and put back on. it probably won't be easy getting that bolt out. once you do, i recommend...

    overdrive problems

if the fuse was blown, you would not be able to get into overdrive. my guess is that the switch has gone bad.

rear disc brakes and aluminum diff cover installed!

i took the hose that i got from blackbird's and picked up a compression fitting that threaded into the hose and fit the 3/16" steel line. the stock fitting was too large to fit in the brake hose, which i didn't know until i took it off. i know you're not supposed to have compression fittings...

rear disc brakes and aluminum diff cover installed!

the stock brake line fitting for the steel line that goes into the drum did not match up with the end of the rubber hoses that i got from blackbird's. i also had to shorten the stock steel brake lines to allow for the length of the rubber hose.

rear disc brakes and aluminum diff cover installed!

it's not hard at all. just be prepared to have to modify or adapt the brake line fittings as well

rear disc brakes and aluminum diff cover installed!

if you have a stock rear end, you have the sterling 10.25. the e-brake caliper has an external spring loaded lever that pushes the fluid in the piston to squeeze the pads to the rotor

rear disc brakes and aluminum diff cover installed!

thanks for the compliments. i know it stops better than the with the drums according to the 'forehead moving towards windshield' scale. one of these days i'll try a 60 to 0 test and measure the distance, even though i can't compare it to drums now. i'm happy with it and the overall fairly...

rear disc brakes and aluminum diff cover installed!

it wasn't hard to install at all. the hardest part will be figuring out how to attach the e-brake cables, probably just welding a bracket on to hold the cable end. i have an auto tranny, so i'm not in a rush to do that. i'll post pics when i do though. thanks for posting the link, bushpilot.
