    Lost all electrical power.

Report is good. All fixed. Alternator shorted out inside. Had continuity from the + stud on alternator to case. Also The case was cracked but had been for some time as the crack was oxidized just like the rest of the case. Looked like one of the bolts was tightened to tight at the factory(Auto...

    Lost all electrical power.

Good morning, 02 E350 7.3. On shoulder. Running down the interstate and everything went dark. Engine shut off and zero electrical power. I have no power at the distribution box under the hood. There is no power to the stud/wire from the batteries. Trailer battery charge 40 amp fuse blown. Tried...

With Autoenginuity you can see throttle pedal position. If it were bad I'm sure it would show up. I know that doesn't help if you don't have one but maybe another tool can see that also.

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

Great news. Funny, the pump is not a common problem on our trucks. I have over 1\2 million miles on my original pump.

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

Sure will when I get some time. I actually got the idea from some other place on the web. I'll dig it up along with what I specifically used. Pretty busy right now but I'll post back.

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

Well that sure is interesting and wonder what stopped up meant, but we need to isolate the pump first to see if it will run that way. Oh by the way if your pump has this type of fitting I don't thing you need the special tool. Mine had the metal fuel injection style. Must be a van thing eh? I...

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

Make sure it runs fine first on the jug method. You'll need to check for any leaks in the fuel line and check the connections for possible leaks then pull the sending unit and check for leaks there too. BUT the problem is that all this stuff is on the suction side so as you can see is really...

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

On a side note, you mentioned that the sending unit was just replaced in Sept. Makes me wonder if a connection was damaged or not put together all the way and came loose. But don't worry about this just yet as you have to drop the tank to check this stuff out. Did the previous owner tell you...

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

You are going to take the line off the suction side of the pump between the pump and the tank so there will be no pressure to worry about. 3/8" hose will work fine to put on the pump one you get the quick connect off. If it works sucking out of a container it means the pump is GOOD and is...

If you can see oil on the dipstick anywhere it has enough to run.

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

AAAHHHH we have narrowed it down much closer with that statement. You should have fuel flowing into the bowl with in the first cycle of the pump. Pull the suction line off the pump(you will need a fuel line removal tool) and shove a hose on and see if it will suck fuel out of a jug and fill the...

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

Is there any smoke while you crank? Is the tac showing any rpm's during cranking? Is it full of oil?

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

Joe, Not sure if your referring to the mixing chamber(white thing) or the little red check valve in the foot? I was specifically referring to the red valve on the side of the rubber foot sucking air. Either way it's all gone now. Before I knew of the problems of the factory setup: About 5...

NEED HELP! 7.3L Diesel wont start!

I would put more fuel in it. This sounds just like the symptoms I had on more than one occasion. When my fuel light comes on I know I can drive about 85 miles at 70 mph(about 5 usable gallons)until she is dry. But if my low fuel light comes on and I stop and let it sit for a few hours it will...

    Missing/no power

Well first thing I see is the voltage seems low to me. I think I remember the CPU needs to see 10.5 volts to fire the injectors. With the draw on the starter and glow plugs I wonder if it falls below 10.5 volts. If you are seeing white smoke that would suggest my theory wrong though. Try jump...

Which relay is it? Rear one, maybe this will help:

    Missing/no power

    Very good analogy Joe.

    Missing/no power

Yes you will have problems at 30* if glow plugs are not working. First you need to check the GP relay. Of the two relays, it is the rear one. On battery side you should see 12 volts at all times. Check to see you get 12 volts on the other terminal when you turn the key on. Either have someone...

    Missing/no power

Do what Dave says first and if it starts fine plugged in we know it is either glow plugs or GP relay. How many miles? How many miles on Injectors? Does it smoke while missing? If so, what color?

Electrical problem - radio, gauge, battery light

Voltage regulator in the alternator is going south. And as stated above, have the batteries tested separately also. A bad cell can make the alternator work too hard or exceed it's duty cycle, so to speak. Replace both batteries if one only one is bad.

    Help Needed brakes locking up

If it were a hose, would it not pull to one side?
