Found Out Part Of the PROBLEM
The gauge if aftermarket by Banks and it reads 25 low but now I know to add the 25 to the reading. Yes, the fluid and the in-line filter was changed. Ford charged $100 for the in-line filter. Stealer not dealer. You should have seen how caked up the old tranny cooler was. That's definetly why...- travelinbob

Found Out Part Of the PROBLEM
Tranny fluid was changed 7000 miles ago and it has not been hot-hot since the change. Only from New Mexico to Pennsylvania and then to Florida. No big mountains to cross over. I will get it changed if the tech thinks it needs it. Bob- travelinbob

Found Out Part Of the PROBLEM
The mechanic pointed out that I have a in line filter on the line and it must have been put there when the last tranny job was done. It doesn't look like the one you linked to. It looks more like a fuel filter.???? He will replace the filter when he replaces the cooler. Thanks, Bob- travelinbob

Found Out Part Of the PROBLEM
While at the Ford garage yesterday discussing my tranny problem, the tranny guy and I were at the truck and he discovered that my stock cooler had a small leak at the top and it looks as if it has been that way for awhile. Ford Rebuilt HD Trannies
Dogman, Truck has 190,000 miles and I think it's on it's second tranny. The dealer I bought it from said previous owner put in a Ford rebuild. I had tranny shop drop pan and change fluid and filter 7000 miles ago. It did not smell or look burnt. I have had overheating problems big time climbing...- travelinbob

OK....today I went on my second road trip after the OD light blinked that one time. Both trips were a couple hundred miles and no problems at all. The tranny never shifted funny or anything. Dogman, I see you're from Tampa. The Ford dealer that I'm working with on this tranny is Gordon Jarrett Ford in Davenport. The truck came from Gator Ford back in 2001 but I'm comfortable talking to the Davenport guys. I know that Ford is sticking it to me but I'm paying for the "everywhere"...- travelinbob

Funny that you reply just when I had talked to Ford about the cooler. Yes it is included. I have no idea what it looks like but I like the ones on the 6.0 PSD. I hope that's the external one that they are talking about. Bob- travelinbob

Brandon, sorry for gettin all jumpy. One reason for considering Ford is that almost every town has a Ford dealer instead of buying a Monsterbox, BTS, or a JW. We travel fulltime and are never in the same place more than a week or two, three, or four. The reg duty is $3000 and the HD is $4000...- travelinbob

Are the Ford HD rebuilds any good. We travel from coast to coast and I'm considering buying a HD from Ford so the warranty would be good anywhere in the USA. Anyone have first hand knowledge? Thanks Bob- travelinbob
