Interesting tow pics: "Walrus Breeding Tanks"

Here are two pics of an interesting tow that I was involved in several years ago. Unfortunately: - I can't tell you what they are - I can't tell you who made them - I can't tell you who bought them - I can't tell you who designed them - I can't tell you where they came from - I can't...

GD it!!! I thought I picked a good set of tires!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers from my local 4x4 shop that I've done a lot of business with the last 9 years. Balanced and installed, $950 out the door. Drove about 5 miles on the interstate, these things had a pretty good bounce down the road - totally unacceptable. I called the...

Missing and loose bolts on left rear axle

I had my tires replaced at my favorite shop last Friday. I go to pick it up and the owner shows me that one bolt is missing and two are loose on my left rear axle. These are the bolts on the axle itself and are NOT the lug nuts. I've never touched these bolts, have had no reason to. Have...

Gravity-feed of diesel fuel: Is it legal?

Here's my opinion. What is yours and why do you think and/or know that it's legal/illegal? Gravity-feed: Is it Legal? There is probably more confusion on this subject than any other in the discussion of aux fuel tanks for pickup trucks. What follows here is the relevant regulation...

Fuel lubricity additives - what do the refineries use?

I don't think I've ever seen this question before, although there's a lot of discussion of fuel lubricity, or the lack thereof, of diesel fuel, especially ULSD. What do refineries or distributors add to fuel to increase it's lubricity? Furthermore, can we buy it? Thanks, Al

Aftermarket fuel filter install: who's done it and other questions.

I want to install an auxiliary fuel filter in my 6.0. Since I already have an extra fuel filter mount, I plan to put this kit together myself vs. buying a kit from Dieselsite etc. Anyone know of a writeup that's already been done? I specifically want to know where to intercept the fuel...

Oil cooler install in the 6.0: How to?

I did a search but found nothing obvious. What's the best way to connect an oil cooler to a 6.0? I already have an oil bypass filter, but it's using 1/4" line and I don't think that will pull enough oil to cool anything down. How are other people connecting an oil cooler in their 6.0's...

Going to Pittsburgh from Alabama - what to add to fuel?

I'll fill up here in Huntsville and probably won't get any more fuel until I get back, ~ 1400 miles +/-. I have a 90 gallon RDS aux tank plus the OEM 38 gallon tank. What should I add to the fuel so it won't gel in the (possibly) colder temps in Pittsburgh? Thanks, Al
