Do some Google searches (may actually be here that I found the information) on your year and body control module or vehicle security module. I had similar symptoms on my '02 and that's what it was. Power stearing pump failure also affects brakes?
That would be correct. A turbo diesel pushes air into the engine unlike a naturally aspirated one pulls. Thus there isn't the traditional vacuum for a vacuum brake booster. The power steering pump provides both power assist to the steering and brake systems.- 2HawkFans
