    Perplexed with my 6.0

It is not thin at cold temperatures either, just “thinner” than an oil with a higher first number

7.3L hard shift ONLY while towing

Also, I’m not sure but I think, that with enough load and throttle the torq conv might not kick out and back in on some shifts like it does on others.

    RPM Concern

Generally yes, but not when the change in RPM’s is because of increased load, as in higher gears. With the same load and transmission speed, of course

    RPM Concern

PS in case it wasn’t clear, yes there is an inverse relationship between engine RPM’s and turbo ROM’s because of a gear change, all else remaining the same.

    RPM Concern

Also, you will see a higher boost reading on your gauge, if you have one, which means more heat on your pistons
  9. K

    RPM Concern

That is correct. When you change the gears, as you stated, you will be putting a greater load on the engine, just as if you shifted to a higher gear on a bicycle, it would make it harder to peddle. More load on the engine = more heat and expansion of exhaust gases, which in turn means more turbo...

    RPM Concern

Didn’t say that You’re going to downshift to drive any way right/ not be in overdrive, so gear to gear, the taller gears are going to “lug” the engine more making the turbo spin faster and likely wear out sooner. Thats all. That and leave well enough alone.

What truck is it. We’re in the dark here.

    RPM Concern

No way would I change it, if it’s running 2500 most of the time; 3000- maybe. At a lower RPM, your turbo is going to spin faster also. As was stated, pulling a load, up hill, in thinner air, your going to need those gears. PLUS, there are many times unforeseen and unintended consequences of...

    Anti freeze

To answer your question, no you do not. It does need to meet the spec.s and needs to be flushed every 5 years or add an additive to keep it within specs. There are several great choices on the market

    Start and stop moving thump

I’ve seen this un explainable clunk on many vehicles. It is the flex in the leaf springs caused by the rotation of the axle upon braking, uncoiling and acceleration. The slip yoke can be lubricated but a device like a reversed “traction bar” is needed to prevent the rotation.

    Bearing question

Hope it's not too late, just got the email. If you deleted the egr before any coolant got into the exhaust (it cracked) you do not need stud job or any other mods. We see 6.0's regularly with 350,000mi.+ with no problems as long as you keep your coolant changed and clean. Hate to say it because...
