    AutoEnginuity Software is Great!!

When I bought the 2000 F350 a couple of years ago I bought a software package called AutoEnginuity and it has the extra module for the Ford diesels and trans and such and has been very helpful when the check engine light flashes now and then and it runs on my laptop (also for PDAs). Well the...

Sometimes the long wait is worth it!

About 10 yeard ago there started a vintage sports car race in Coronado CA at the Naval Station at North Island. I was stationed there while on several ships and worked there as a civilian manager after I retired, Since we race a 1973 Porsche in various vintage events I have been trying to get...

    Did the alignment tonight

Well the toe was 1/4 inch toe out before adjustment. Caster was even on both sides as was the camber, 0 degrees. Since the left wheel was wearing badly and the wheel was turned left slightly, I adjusted the right side wheel and now have 3/16 toe in each side after adjustments and moving the truck.

    Question Alignment Specs

Well for a while now the dually has been pulling to the right slightly and I noticed some accelerated inside tire wear on the left front tire which tells me the left front is scrubbing. I checked the front suspension and nothing is excessivly worn or loose so I think it is time to pull out my...

    Reloading Sources Question

In the past few months I started reloading my own 223 and 308 ammo. My neighbor gave me die set for 357/38 special and about 1000 cases so now I do that also. I was figuring it is about 50% cost savings to reload my own shells which is pretty good. We have the Crossroads of the West gun show in...

    Backup Camera Weirdness

The post about the backup camera made me remember something strange. We recently put in the wireless 3 camera security system that Costco sells and it really works great. I have one looking at the front door, one at my truck and one at the driveway where my race car sits under a cover. The other...

    Watching NASCAR in my truck

Took the wife to Costco this afternoon and the race at Dover was on. The lot was full so I ended up waiting for her in a loading zone and channel 6 had the race on the Kenwood TV adapter flat screen system I have. Several men stopped to watch it for a moment and I think their wives started to...

    A good deed got rewarded

Two weekends ago I helped my neighbor troubleshoot his little compact car that kept blowing the fuse supplying power to the fuel pump. As soon as the car would crank it would pop the fuse. I checked the relays and they were fine, unplugged the injectors, they are fine and unplugged the wire at...

    Got my B-Day present, S&W 327 TRR8

Even with several guns including a Sig 226 with dual barrels I still like the wheel guns. I could not pass up this new one from S&W and it holds 8 shots of 357 mag, 38+P or plain ol 38 target stuff. To make things nicer, my neighbor gave me a set of RCBS 357/38 carbide dies and about a thousand...

    Ready high winds last weekend!!!!

I was at Willow Springs raceway near Edwards AFB for a vintage sportscar race and we had some terrific winds! I have a bed cover named "Fold-a-Cover" and it usually sits down well when folded and the 5th wheel is used but it nearly blew loose. I unfolded it and clamped it down well and the wind...

Ka-Boooom got to shoot the 50 caliber

Several weeks ago I bought a Thompson Center Hawken 50 caliber kit from a racing friend of mine. It was one of the older kits as I had to blue everything but the wood work was fantastic and all I had to do was some smooth finish sanding and a good polish of the brass to get out the sanding...

Rear Wheel Spacers for the Dually???

I did some additional searching and found some info on other sites and boards where several F350 dually owners had installed 1/4 or 1/2 inch spacers between the rear wheels after doing to the 235 size tire from 215. The failures seemed even between the loaded and unloaded driving too. My door...

Another tire failure on the dually??

I decided to post this here since the general forum gets more traffic, so aways here is the scoop. I had the inner, left side rear tire have tread failure yesterday and it mimiced the failure I had last month on the way to Phoenix which I mentioned in a earlier post. The tire still had air, 75#...

Neat gadget for the gun owners

I was at the gun show in San Diego this past weekend and bought something for my wife's pistol named Convert-A-Pell (Convert-a-Pell) and it is really neat. It has an adapter that goes into the barrel sealed by o-rings and then you load a primer into special made cases. Finally you put in a .177...

    ICE....36....ICE....36....ICE

That was what my temp indicator in the overhead started flashing on the way home from Phoenix the other night in the moutains! I thought that was pretty interesting as we all know bridges ice before highways!!!

Found another reason to have a dually!!!

On the way to PIR in Phoenix this past thursday night I had the inside rear tire shred. It took the fender flare liner and mud flat out but did no other damage thank goodness. There was just a bunch of viberation and after I pulled off to the side to inspect the damage I changed the tire aand...

Holiday Traffic and My F350 Dually

Took the wife and my mom (84) out yesterday to do some shopping and took "Big Louie" the dually. I had forgotten how nice it is to have the biggest vehicle in the lot, especially with those women trying to drive around while talking on their cell. Even the Tijuana plated drivers let me...

Finally shot my Walker 44 black powder

The South Bay Rod and Gun range reopened this week in the Delzura area after the bad fire storms we had and I finally got to shot several cylinders of balls. I was surprised the recoil was not too bad and the smoke and noise was about what the folks at the gun shop in Lancaster CA told me it...

Engine stalls at idle when over 80 degrees?

This has got me stumped somewhat. The truck is a 2000, F350 dually, Edge w/attitude programmer, AFE stage 2 intake and 4 inch SS exhaust with Magnafow muffler. The truck runs fantastic and I have even started driving it to the office as I like the flat screen nav system! Aways, when outside air...

Took wife and youngest daughter shooting

They were tlking about added home security since this year in the San Diego area there has been one or more home invasions a week. We have an alarm system and panic button but my daughter though a gun would make my wife feel safer when I am teaching school in the evenings. So I bought a 20 Ga...

Picts from a recent vintage race I did

I don't just do computer stuff although it helps pay for my first love, racing my old sports car. These picts were taken in June at the CA Speedway in Fontana CA. The Mustangs rev to about 7500 RPM or more now.

New Monitor for my PC, a 24 inch Samsung

My daughter wanted my old flat screen monitor so I decided to get one of the new 24 inch 9x16 format Samsung SyncMaster 245BW monitors. The difference is amazing as all the colors are much brighter than before but there are several things that make it even cooler. First is you can increase the...

Computer Upgrade, what I did and why.

A little background about me first: I have worked as a software engineer since 1985 when I retired from the US Navy as a Nuc engineer and have taught computer science for Chapman U. and UOP in San Diego since 1989 but I hate messing with hardware! Since I just had to replace my main home PC due...

Bought a DVD burner, better than TIVO......

We bought a new HD monitor for the house a few weeks ago and also bought a DVD burner/player and it has worked great. Here is what I did which ended up being a pretty good setup finally I think. I bought the Westinghouse 42 inch "monitor" at Best Buy and it ended up at $889 and since it is a...
