    Tired of brown, so I went "Red"

    i wish, I had known about Red Head, before I replaced my steering gear with a Ford reman a few years ago. I have only heard good things about Red Head, it seems they really know their stuff. Glad you got her fixed. Hope your friend gets well.

    Forget about it. ATS is absolute JUNK. Plenty of BS, and a lawyers delite of a warranty. Jasper is another joke.BTS, or John Wood, build the best.

    Mag-Hytech deep tranny pan

    The MagHytec looks good, but is a waste of money for function. The tranny warms up slower, holds more ATF. Overheating should not be a problem. If, the tranny fluid gets hot, it takes longer to cool the additional fluid. MagHytec makes quality parts. The Diff cover would be money better spent.

    coolant question

    How about a good cooling system flush, and use Cat or other ELC coolant, and forget about test srips etc. The lowest cost per mile, and best for the PSD.:sweet

    I can do you one better, 3 sets of pads, and rotors, and 858,000 miles. The original set made it to 292,000. How about this, original ball joints replaced at 221,000 miles, and still on the Moog replacements, that is 637,000 miles, and still good.How about 462,000 miles on a BTS tranny. These...

    Starter

    The dbelectrical.com high tork starter is the cats *****. The high tork starter is a gear reduction unit, the stock starter is ok, but the high tork could turn the whole truck over. Go for the high tork, it is worth every penny. Be prepared for faster starts.:sweet

    Help Needed 7.3 dead

    You answered your own question. The cylinders need heat. Replacing the dead glow plugs should make it start without a problem. The block heater helps, but does not heat the combustion chambers like the glow plugs.

    Synthetic motor oil makes the cold starts easier, and usually eliminates the "romps". Three hours is usually all that is need for a nice warm start, longer time being plugged in is a waste of electicity.

    That sure should be easy enough. I would go with the 05, due to motor, and tranny upgrades. The 05 turning radius is much better.

    The NAPA hub is warranted for 1 year, no mileage restriction. The Ford part 1 year, 12K miles.

    AIS Kit

    The connector just unplugs. I really like the AIS, and it is a good improvement, for more air, and excellent filtration. I recommend reusing the original filter minder, the new one is very sensitive.

    Help Needed Cold starting problems

    A check of the glow plugs etc would be a good idea. Synthetic motor oil 5w40 would help with the "romps". You should be able to start the motor with out plugging it in, but a little heat in the engine block helps speed up the warm up.
