    could it possibly be, that part of my vent tube came off in the tank, and could be interfering with the float causing my bad reading on the gauge, and inability to get fuel in the tank? guess i need to pull it off to look. but i dont want to drop the tank.

    That is a small vent tube! the plug/cap on the end was pretty much filling the entire end if the hose, as it is old.     more trouble thanks to all for the response to my question. I tried putting fuel in the tank this evening and the pump keeps shutting off like the tank is full. Is it the vent tube? Is it plugged? do i need to pull the tank to get to it? arrrg!

    Thanks, I took the auto hubs out and looked at the nut it definitely wasnt the one the sales guy at napa sold me. It ends up being a kd3456 for the dana 50 and 3455 for the 44. I had him let me look at the book myself.

    Anyone replace their front wheel bearings lately? I think i have the wrong spindle nut socket. NAPA sold me a kd 3937 socket but, it looks like the old one i have for the GM 1/2ton. Could it be the same? It has 4 lugs on it. Making sure i have the right tools before getting started.

    I was also questioning the additives in the fuel. I have used atf and diesel kleen. Does this cause problems?

    never thought about draining it while it was running, guess that would get the gunk out but i thought diesel was lighter than the water, and the idea was to get the water out which should be on the bottom? am i wrong?

    It is back together no leaks, Thanks for the tips. didnt replace the fuel lines they were fairly new. had the fuel pump changed and i think they pulled the canister then cause the lines were fairly new. and all the wiring looked great. But what a hole in the bottom of that filter assembly!

    The bowl rotted out. I have a new assembly are there any tips or tricks to changing it out? like how to get to the clamp on the bottom. This looks like fun.
