4R100 rebuild - just do it

I'm puttin the word out there - quit buying rebuilt transmissions. I bought an ATSG manual, looked at a couple threads, then rebuilt this SOB. If you can rebuild a small block engine an auto trans is NOT much more difficult.
Now I ain't saying it will work on the first try but how many motors or heads have you installed and had to pull it back apart? It happens.

I've said my piece, now motor on.

Transmissions just look scary.

I think they are a little easier than rebuilding an engine.

I thought so too. When you look at the threads of people who have done it all you see is piles of unknown parts. When you do it yourself you get to know every one of those parts and they're not so unusual looking anymore.

The unkown parts make great paper weights. They do make for conversation pieces, until they get sent off to the scrapper.
Dead converters are good door stops or tire chocks.
