Help Needed 4x4 solenoid 05 f350

so i think i got it ruled down to the vaccum solenoid.

when i started the vaccum pump was running continiously

make a tee in line so had just the defrost/vent/floor isolated........ vaccum pump pulled it down and all controls seemed too work fine

pull off vaccum into solenoid and isolated (i assume this goes down too the hubs) it and vaccum pump pulled it down and shut off..... let it sit for ten minutes and pump did not kick back on.. i assume this rules out a leak at the hubs??? i forgot too get under the pickup and check at the hubs too make sure there was vaccum there.

so i am curious if i left the hubs in the locked position does it still need the vaccum pump to engauge the 4x4 system? or does it just need the vaccum for the autolock feature??

sound like the right way to check it out?? is there anything else i should check before buying the solenoid?? and how much does that bugger cost??
