Hey guys I have an 04 f350 with the 6.0 I've owned it about 2 months now. This has happened about 3 times. Every time it happens as soon as I start the truck. No engine codes or anything. Truck runs strong. So I start it and it whistles followed by white smoke that appears to either come from passenger side engine area or possibly middle of the truck. Hard to tell I always jump out to look but it's done by the time I'm there. Any chance this is normal?

Some white on a cold start in cold weather might be okay but from the tail pipe. Could have an exhaust leak? EGR issue. Maybe pull and clean the EGR valve if it still has it. Not hard to do. White sometimes means coolant turning to steam but I would think other issues as well. Has it been scanned? Sometimes things show up there without the check engine light.

Put your truck's details like; year, model, engine and transmission in your signature so we don't have to keep asking. Go to your icon at the top Black like and click on signature. Fill out the details and we are done.

First step is to interpret the codes.

The other thing about forums, is that you tell the complete store. "I got codes X0001 & X00013". All codes mean something and maybe a clue to what is going on with your truck, so tell us all of the codes you get.

When mines did that it had leaking exhaust bellows. The smoke from bad injector the noise from the cracked bellow. But it could be a myriad of things to cause that.
