100° over outside air temperature is generally thought to be about right. You are about right on.

That's about what my 2011 F250 6.7 has been running all summer. I have about 23,000 miles now and it has never had any shifting problems. I runs that temp when I'm empty or pulling my 30' camper.

still concerned about tranny temp

I have a brand new 2012 F350 CC 4x4 and also find that the tranny temp will stay about 190 ish without any load. My 05 F350 6.0 consistantly stayed about 155-160 unless trailering. There are so many charts on the internet regarding transmission life and how temps affect them. Has anyone logged ~75,000 miles on this tranny and been running this high a temperature?

I appreciate any input that is backed by real life experience.

Have a great day!!

29,000 miles on mine now with temps always in the 190's. The only other two trucks that I've owned with trans temp gauges ran about the same too. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm think that these are normal trans temps. The 6.0 liters may just have run cool. I also checked my transmission fluid a couple of days ago and it looks good with no evidence of overheating.
