Help Needed A C won't kick on by itself.

I have a 2008 ford f350 6.4 with 63,000 miles .AC Just quit working. I checked freon and it was fine. I bumped the clutch and it kicked on and blows cold air until I turn truck off. Sometimes it will kick on by itself but more often I have been having to cilmb underneath and hit the clutch to engage, Also sometimes but not always it makes a screetching noise. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the gap in the clutch is getting too big. Hence the screeching. They can be re-shimmed, but I don't know how. We have some AC guys here and they can tell you more.
