My son has a 2000 7.3 180000 miles the antifreeze is draining into the oil pan just sitting there not running. He said it never overheated . I noticed the last time he started it he had white smoke come from exhaust but went away quickly . He hasn't started it since . He said it wasn't down on power when he last drove it. We drained the oil and did coolant pressure test and some coolant came out oil pan drain plug . Can it still be something simple as oil cooler going bad?

Oil is under more pressure than coolant so I could be a head gasket. No guarantee on this as it could be the cooler. I would start with the cooler as it is a LOT easier to remove than the heads.

Well we replaced the oil cooler, my son bought a mishimoto oil cooler but we did use the motorcraft o-rings. We got it back together and let it idle for awhile shut it off checked water and oil levels and everything seemed fine . Drove it maybe 10 miles came home checked fluid levels everything was good. Next morning he checked everything it was good , drove it about 10 miles came home noticed dripping coming from under the engine, opened hood oil mixed with coolant and pushed out the coolant reservoir. Could the mishimoto oil cooler given up all ready ?

Sorry to say.... If it were me I'd be thinking it's a cracked head especially if I saw white smoke which indicates antifreeze burning in the cylinder.
I'm hoping that's not the case for your sake.
Would be interested in knowing the outcome, good luck

i would not have diagnosed the oil in the coolant with a bad oil cooler (sits on the driver side of the engine under the exhaust manifold), unless it's leaking on the outside. When I had oil in the coolant, it turned out to be a cracked injector cup. Of course, finding the cracked injector is challenging and takes time.
