Three meters, from $50 to $250 can't pull a code from my truck even though the check engine light is on. I'm wondering if being a 97 it isn't fully OBDII compliant. One of the meters says there are 124 codes to pull but doesn't pull a single one.

Does anyone else have a 97 that they can pull codes from? What meter make and model do you use?

Does anyone know of a certain type of meter that will pull from this early OBDII truck?

Thanks in advance,

the over 8500GVW OBDII is just different enough that the readers from autzone etc won't read them. Autoenginuity is what most on here are using though I'm using alex pepper's OBDII software on a stone age laptop (12+ Years old)

Snap On's has some models that will work and it may be that for some reason that your OBDII port may be damaged

What you want to look for in these code readers is the capability to read "CAN" codes. This is the new version of OBD II readers. I know it is confusing.
