Question Cell Phones - I-Phone or HTC Hero?

We have had Sprint for several years, and my wife has a Palm Centro, while mine is a Palm Treo. However we both need new ones, and I have looked at the HTC Hero. However our sons both have AT&T service and have I-Phones. They say that the Hero phones are pretty bad. Has anyone had any experience with the Hero? I know the phones are like anything else: there are good ones and bad ones. I'd like to stay with Sprint because our rate would be more with AT&T, even though the kids and several others that we call all have AT&T.

I just ordered a Hero for my 16 yo. He said he researched and CNET said it was a decent phone. I don't know as I don't have time to research right now. I'm a Blackberry guy so I don't know about iphones. I hope it's ok. We have Sprint/Nextel also and I'm very happy with them.
