engine cutting out

My friend has a 2002 F350 super duty, his engine cuts out like it's going to die when he presses on the pedal, and he has to let off the pedal and ease it back down to keep it running, when he's towing it seems to run fine empty and it idles fine. Anybody got any ideas what it could be?

Do an engine scan and see what codes show up. Other wise you are just guessing...
