Greetings everyone,

Here is a question for you guys, it will help settle a dispute at work. A co-worker and I were discussing the 4r100 tranny that is in his F250 and my Ex. As the discussion went on the question was brought up about the manufacturer of said transmission. My co-worker stated that it was made by "Metric" and they had been making trannies for Ford for years. I questioned him where his info came from, and his reply was "It is stamped on the tranny pan." I told him that the stamping indicates the bolts securing the pan are metric and not the mfg of the tranny. So, if any one has any info, I would greatly appreciate helping settle this. Thanks in advance for the replies. Merry Christmas to all.:thumbs :thanks

The bolts are metric and not the manufacture. Do a google on metric transmissions and you will see that I am right.

:roflmao The trans is metric. Not made by Metric. I hope you get a beer out of this.:D
Metric Systems makes armament for the Air Force. They have a big office near here. They DON'T make automobile and truck transmissions, but with the Pentagon paying $400 for a toilet seat, can you imagine what a TRANSMISSION would cost?

Your friend is an idiot, metric does not make the tranny

And I suppose you know who does?? You should be careful about making comments about people you have never met.

Personally I'd like to know the actual manufacturer of the transmissions if any of our Ford Master Technicians would check in.:notworthy
