fuel filter

my water in fuel light was on so i changed the filter out just now and the light is still on i might not have done it right can you guys give me the proper way to change that out

ummm did you completely drain the filter bowl?
if not , just changing the element will not turn off the light
if you did drain it completely... i would turn on the key and open the drain and let it squirt out some good fuel then see if it goes off
it may take afew times. and well if you got a ton of water out. the filter might be dirty again
