Fuel Leak -- DOH!!!

I just noticed that my truck has a fuel leak. It is leaking from around the release valve on the fuel bowl. Do you think the o-ring kit from blackcloud would correct this? All the leaked diesel stays sitting on top of the engine. The leak isnt too bad, but diesel is too expensive to waste even a tiny bit.

Note the two orings with what apears to be paint on them. They are 1/2"OD X 1/4"ID and cost about .50 cents each at a plumbing supply store.

Yes the kit that Garrett stocks will do the job

I have been eyebolling this for this past couple of days and it is definitely around the release valve (behind) and not down the tube. I already ordered that kit from bcd because I was told these orings are specific. I have boxes of them, but I dont want to risk it. I am suprised that the valve doesnt have a gasket of any type. I think when I put the rings in I will line the valve with permatex to help seal better. Do you think that would be a good idea?

I've found that a small dab/thin coat of petroleum jelly on the O-rings helps seal/lubricate and keeps the exposed to atmosphere surfaces from drying out.Food for thought especially with the hot underhood temps.

Yep, also helps hold them in place when your bolting it back together.

Yeah, I always use grease on orings (assembly lube). But I mean the valve itself.

Not necessary IMHO. Once the orings start leaking the fluid is going down the tube regardless of weather you have sealant on housing.

I really thought they would be metric. What is the width??


I have orings of that size. I think I should just wait until my kit from bcd comes in.

Not necessary IMHO. Once the orings start leaking the fluid is going down the tube regardless of weather you have sealant on housing.

The funny thing is that it is not leaking down the tube right now. It leaks out and sits on top of the motor. Nothing is coming down the tube. Must be the one oring went bad then.
