From what I've read.... my truck (7.3 Auto 4x4 CCLB 350 SW 4.10 gears) Can only tow 20,000lbs.... my question is... how many of you have towed weighing more then that?

I'm going to probably be towing 2 jeeps (probably about 11k to 12k) with a triple axle gooseneck (about 7k) for a grand total of about 24,000 lbs GCVW. And I was wondering if I should be worried about really doing some serious damage to my truck. I'll be towing in stock tune and taking it really easy. No rush. Will be towing from Salt Lake City to Lake Tahoe.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Your Jeeps weigh 5500 to 6000 pounds each? Mine was 3200 empty. I will admit it was a CJ3 with V6 and Turbo 400. The newer ones do weigh more, but that much more?

You know that the Auto is the weak link on your truck, and you will be pulling some big hills, so keep a eye on all temps.
One of my friends has a 1999 and it's got a BTS and 3.73's in it, and we pull 24.000 all the time.

Well the trip was canceled do to one of the Heeps not being in running order.

I know the Auto Trans is my first weak link and I wasn't too worried about her...

We are instead going to be going to a trail here in Utah (about 2 hours south east of SLC) and I will be pulling about that same amount of weight. (I'm assuming they weigh about 5k a piece with all the extra added stuff to them.)

Thanks for all the input guys. I'll keep one eye on the road/load and the other on the temp gauges. ;tu
