Glow plug clicking

I have a new to me 2006 / 6.0 that makes a clicking sound on cold start ups when glow plug light is on. My question is this common?

is it a click- click -click or a buzzing constant sound until the glow plug light goes out?

That is correct, my old 7.3 and 218K did not have this noise
