Is it possible to put a rack and pinion system in an X? My better half drives it all the time and there seems to be about a couple of inches of movement between the steering wheel moving and the wheels turning. My better half is used to driving vehicles w/rack and pinion....is it possible? beneficial?
FYI, we have been through the ball joints, TR ends, etc., and it still seems "not-so-responsive". Any input is greatly appreciated!

Most rack and pinion units are not big enough for that truck but they do make hydraulic ram steering kits for the superdutys and excursions.
I beileve that the kits are called "rock rams" summit racing has them on their website.
The extra movement in the steering wheel could be wear in the steering box. Normally the SD's and EX's are pretty good though until you start to lift them and run bigger tires.
