Hey people, my name is Kenneth and I have a 1988 Ford F-250 Extended Cab with a 6.9L diesel, 3 speed automatic tranny, 4X4, with 4.11 gears and a factory locker in the rear end. I bought the truck with a blown 7.3L Non-turbo engine (Veggi oil mishap) for $700. My fiancee thought I was crazy paying that much for a truck with a blown engine. She didn't know what I knew though... the brand new C6 automatic tranny was worth more than that! I talked my dad into selling my a spare 6.9L International engine and dropped it right in. I now have a "one-of-a-kind" truck since '87 was the last year that Ford used the 6.9L engine. I put a Warn 8,000lb winch on the front, and it clears a set of 35" TXR's on 16" chrome wheels at stock height no problem. It has the 1 ton axles and running gear with the free-floating style rear axle. It has overloads on the back, and add-a-leaf on the front, and a fold-away gooseneck ball in the bed. It has custom wood grain panels on the doors and a wood grain overhead console package that holds my CB and switches for the fog lights, tractor-style back-up lights, and the twin-beam amber revolving light mounted on the roof (I was gonna set the truck up for recovery). It hauls, pulls, and tows like no gas-pot I've ever been around. In fact, this truck towed a load semi that weighed in at 79,800lbs down a road in town and up a small grade to a wide spot so he could call a repair shop. I'll get some pics posted shortly. Hope I haven't bored you all with the details about my truck, but it's kinda my "pride and joy" since I do mechanics and this was my first diesel.
