Key Lock

Has anyone ever replaced a door lock? Someone used a screwdriver to try and break into my truck. The lock works, but it's all bent up. Can I swap a new one in then call locksmith to have it keyed? Or does the locksmith have to key it before installing it?

They usually key the lock before installing it. Go with the lock smith.

I had an 01 SD stole from the parking lot of the Henry Ford Museum in Deerborn. The indented polygon around the lockset is where they broke the plastic, popped the lockset out, and simply pulled up on the attached rod to get the door unlocked to get in. I'd go to a locksmith. If your truck is like mine, there is also a lockset on the tailgate, keyed the same, that you might be able to use if they tell you that you will need a new key for the door. It should snap right in.
