Doing routine "look under the hood to check for loose things" and discovered why my mileage had plunged to 14.9 mpg on my 2005 SD Lariat 6.0 diesel. Rubber boot (female side) which fits over the intake engine side was loose as the proverbial goose. Tightened it up and mileage jumped to 19mpg.
My question is why would this make a big diff---I always thought the more those diesels "breathed" the better gas mileage...can anyone explain??
