If you run your hubs with your hubs locked all you are doing is linking the front axles to the hub assemblies. Really driving with the hubs locked isn't much different than running your truck in 4wd all the time. Alot of the older trucks didn't have any hubs they just disconnected the 4wd threw the transfer case. The shifter on the floor just controls the transfer case. (HI/LOW and 4wd)

It's kinda funny that you ask about converting your hubs to auto hubs when most of us with auto hubs convert them to manual hubs because the auto's are not overly reliable.

It shouldn't hurt anything except your fuel mileage.

By doing it that way, you can shift in & out of 4wd as needed.

You can convert to auto locking hubs. But if you desire to have a functioning 4wd system that you can depend on before you get stuck vs after it's too late and you're buried up to the headlights, you won't want to convert it to auto hubs. The things are a major P.O.S. and WILL FAIL sooner or later. Take it from myself and countless others who have converted auto lockout hubs to full manual hubs, you're better off with the manual hubs you already have.

Thanks Geoff

I have never done anything special when I change my fuel filter in my 02. Just make sure you install the rubber o-ring style gaskets in the right spots. There should be instructions that come with the new filter if you need them.
