I thought my factory head unit was capable of playing MP3 but it keeps saying data disc and clicking away the time without output.

Does yours say MP3 on the radio right by the disc opening (above it I think, in the center) all the MP3 capable factory radios have MP3 silkscreened on the faceplate in that location.

Nope, sure doesn't. I assumed in 2006, years after MP3 was available - it would just be standard. The aftermarket Blaupunkt I put in my 97 ranger had it! That was 10 years ago! Damn Ford, get with it.
