Just thought I'd report that our new 2012 Ford F-250 Supercab 6.7 PSD (3.31 rear gear) got 23.7 MPG on first road trip of:clap: approx. 360 miles driven at an average speed overall of 64.8 mph. Pretty amazing new Ford Super Duty, and the power is there too--400 HP and 800 ft lbs of torque. Hope this kind of mileage doesn't fall off too much when we hook up our fifthwheel in Dec for our annual Florida escape. Anyone have any experience with the new Reese/Ford Elie Series fifthwheel hitch that we will be towing with?

Nice mileage. My highest with the 450 is 17.1 driving 55 mph or less.
I've used the Reese hitch several times. Works/ looks very nice, only mod I added was to drill a hole in the slide bar so I can lock the hitch open when unhooking. Got tired of it re-latching when I got in the truck and put it in gear.

Hey CHPMustang--That's one of the BEST Looking Excursions on the Planet and a reliable 7.3 too! I miss my 2001 7.3 SuperCab,but this new 6.7 PSD SuperCab is winning me over real quick with all the Hi-tech advancements ,smoothness, power,Fuel Mileage, and those Heated and COOLED SEATS!! Haven't pulled the fifthwheel yet-hope the 2012 is as good as the old reliable 2001 7.3. Got to put on my just arrived Air Lift air bag system--hope the new F-250 will handle the 12k lbs fifthwheel as good as my old F-350! It' should do it with the extra power (400 hp and 800 ft lbs of torque) and anti-sway system, still not sure if the new F-250 with air bags will handle the 2,500 lbs of tongue weight or general over-all weight of the fifthwheel as well as the 2001 F-350----time will tell. I think I have one less rear leaf in the rear springs--but they look wider and longer--maybe the air bags will even things out--any ideas or experience out there??? THANKS!!

I test drove a 2012 and it was showing an average of 20 mpg on our overnight test drive. I couldn't swallow the price tag so I bought a barely used 2011 250 and the mileage isn't near as good, 16.5 -17 back and forth to work. It handles my 13.5 5'er great on the one short run I did. Going on a longer run this coming weekend and will post how it does. With bags on it, it sits perfectly level and tows like a beast. haven't gone far enough for a mileage check but that is coming in a week.

Hey keep me updated on your latest haul across Fla. Did you install your air bags-what brand? I'm putting a set a AIR Rides on next week . What rear gear does your new F-250 have? Just wondering how my new 2012 F-250 with the new 3.31 Electronic Locking rear gear will compare with my 2001 7.3 PSD with the 3.73 gear. Have you considered an Air Box/High Flow Filter? There are several out there for the new 6.7 PSD. My 7.3 loved the extra air to the tune of about 1 1/2 more mpg. Truck on wayne!

My highest mpg with my 2012 F-450 has been 17, on the highway at 65 mph. The truck only has 1500 miles on it so maybe it will creep up a little. With 4.30 diffs in the truck I don't expect it to go up much. It sure pulls my 41 ft fifth wheel Raptor toy hauler like it wasn't there. What power and is so quiet!
