My hpop is making alotta racket. is it time to replace it? how do you trouble shoot this little rascal? what can a weak pump cause?

what do you mean by "makeing a racket"are you positive that it is the HPOP?and not ones of the pullies for the belt?not sying that it isnt possible but ive never heard of an HPOP makeing noise.

Not real sure of anything until I listen with my steffyscope, but it seems like that's the source.
When I came back from the desert last weekend hauling my fifth-wheel something was howling up front to beat the band and I think the HPOP was the noise maker. The egt's were getting pretty hot too,(1200*).

well if it is indeed the HPOP you are looking at around 500.00 for a reman.you can them on ebay fairly cheap.or i think i have a used one i can sell you for 150.00 plus shipping.i know its good as it is the stock one of my 97 motor that i replaced with the superduty HPOP cuz i needed more oil for my stage 2 injectors.
