I'm looking to find the torque # for the ring gear. I have a 2006 f250 6.0 4x4 with a dana 80 with 10.5 456 gears. I have sheared 5 of the 12 ring gear bolts! :( Apparently they wasn't torqued right and no thread lock was applied when the shop rebuilt it 2 years ago!!!!!
I could unscrew the remaining bolts with my fingers! Anyway I've looked online and the numbers are all over the place from 65 ft lbs to 220 ft lbs and I would like to get a informed answer from yall here. thank in advance.

I just looked at my Ford Service DVD for the following:

Draw up the Grade 9 bolts alternately and evenly

Torque the bolts to 220 foot pounds

Use Threadlock on the ring bolts

You can sneak up on the ring bolts by going to 150 ft pounds torque, then go to 185 ft pounds and finally 220 ft pounds. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

Dave :)

Thanks for the info Dave. I'm picking the bolts up in a few hours and getting it back together. Thanks for taking the time to look it up =)

Jimmy.
