My results from the Sonnax/Tri install. Supervised by CHP, Thanks Bill!

Follow Wiki on this site and everything will go great, it explains in detail with pic's.

Note on my Excursion. We were able to get the 3-4 bolts above the cross-member with a 1/4" ratchet and socket, using a 1/2" X 6" ext. as a breaker bar (slide the female end of the 1/2" ext. over the handle of the 1/4"). The bolt above the cross-member and closest to the drivers door, you can stick the 1/4" ext thru the hole on the cross-member and then put the socket on it and you have a straight on shot to that bolt then.

Bill performed the Valve Body surgery while I watched and learned. After his training I would be confident to do it again.

Cost: Sonnax/Tri $45.00 at blackclouddieselperformance.com, 7-7.5 qts. of Valvoline ATF @ $3.00/ea (will switch to syn. for $2 more a quart, when I drain the Torq conv and pan in a week or 2), re-use the org. gasket.

Performance: It feels like a truck should, it actually shift into a gear. Quick and solid. Before when leaving a red light it would clutch as much as it would lock up. And it never fails, it clutches when I want lock up. Now coming off a red light it shifts into a gear down shifts into a gear and is ready for power to be applied. It should save many miles on the tranny.

Overall: Low cost, High results and a chance to become tranny tech. I would highly recommend it. I am sorry I waited 2 years-mad .

Thanks Bill for all the help. I owe you 2 now!!!!:thumbs

The tranny can be very intimidating until you drop the pan and just turn some nuts and bolts.
