I’ve got a 2017 SD and the steering wheel all of the sudden right to a 90 degree angle but the truck drives straight. Ford is wanting $1700 to fix this!!! Seems outrageous for a truck with only 47K miles on it. Anyone have this issue?
Yes, please tell us what became of this issue. To answer the question from @01yellerCobra ... Does the 2017 Super Duty really have electric steering? Actually yes... it does. http://www.akinsford.com/blog/how-does-the-2017-ford-super-duty-adaptive-steering-system-work/ The electric motor, gear unit and computer module is actually in the steering wheel. This definitely sounds like a bad idea in a truck that is supposed to last 600k miles. I'm fine not having a variable steering ratio.
They have actually been doing it for a while in the smaller trucks. My 11 F-150 has electric steering. It's like the old "pinky steering" from the 70's when Ford used to use Saginaw pumps.....
