Stupid Question?

I know it's a stupid question, but do Diesel engines run hotter or cooler than gas?? My friend was wondering and I wasn't quite sure.

around the same... engine temperature is governed by the thermostat in the coolant...

yep, 'bout the same, all depends on which t-stat you got. Most run between 190* & 200*.
