Hello everyone,
Well first off i have just bought my ford diesel, a 1997 F250 PSD 4x4 with 270k automatic (e4od), and all stock. I just would like to know what everyone's advice is on for my FIRST things to consider getting to help keep the tranny alive such as; a deep fluid pan, a larger tranny cooler, type of shift-kit, type of fluid to use, etc???
i believe the good old :hail Power Stroke can hold its own. i just want to do what ever i can to keep the tranny going. I dont do much heavy towing or hauling, but i do eventually plan on doing performance mods later down the road up around 400hp. any advice would be of great help. thanks

If you just want to keep the tranny alive and happy you dont have to do much to it. Fresh fluid once a year, keep it cool (yes a larger cooler is a MUST) and a mild shift(FTVB,Sonnax,Trans go) kit to keep the sloppiness out of the shifts.

If you really want to go up to 400 hp, you're going to have to do ALOT to keep the slush box together. No sense in halfazzing it now and then a year down the road jerk it back out again for major work, call Brian at BTS for a well built E4OD. Dont get sticker shock though.
